Volker Wörz

Dipl.-Ing. Volker Wörz is a German and European patent attorney and a professional representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the Unified Patent Court.

He studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, specialising in control engineering. He gained practical experience in the development of hardware and software for the control of production machines during a one-year assignment at IBM Germany.

Volker was a patent attorney at Dreiss Patentanwälte in Stuttgart for 20 years, 18 of which as a partner of the firm and 7 as a senior partner. He then worked as a patent attorney at Herrmann Patentanwälte in Stuttgart for 5 years. Wörz is a partner at Wörz Patentanwälte in Stuttgart since January 1st, 2023.

Volker's work as a patent attorney focuses on electrical engineering and production technology as well as mechanical and automotive engineering, in particular control devices, lighting equipment, communication networks and exhaust gas purification systems. However, due to his extensive technical, scientific and legal experience, Volker is also active in almost all areas of intellectual property law and, for instance, supports foreign colleagues in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office.

Volker is also involved in various professional associations outside of his practice, with the training of patent attorney assistants being particularly close to his heart. For many years, Volker has been the delegate for Baden-Württemberg in the Federal Association of Patent Attorneys, as well as a member of the vocational training committee of the Chamber of Patent Attorneys for the vocational training of patent attorney assistants. Since the beginning of 2022, he is also chairman of the examination committee for patent attorney assistants in Baden-Württemberg, as well as training advisor for patent attorney assistants in Baden-Württemberg and Hesse.

Due to several years spent abroad, apart from German, Volker also speaks fluently English and Italian.

Adrian Kreppel

Dr. Adrian Kreppel studied computer science and mathematics at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. He completed his PhD at the Wilhelm Schickard Institute in Tübingen and developed a self-optimising AI-based method for automatic algorithm selection. Among other things, he developed a highly parameterised genetic algorithm in the form of a generic C++ library.

Adrian gained practical experience, among other things, as a system administrator at the computer centre of the University of Tübingen and as a test driver at Bosch in connection with the further development of the anti-skid (ABS) system.

In 2002, Adrian began training as a patent attorney at the law firm Dreiss Patentanwälte in Stuttgart, which he successfully completed in 2005. In 2006, he became a partner in this firm and switched to freelance status in 2011 at his own request. In 2020, he joined forces with patent attorney Dr. Hartmut Schwahn and attorney at law Bernd Häberle to form an office partnership.

Adrian's patent law practice focuses on computer-implemented inventions in general and AI-based technologies in particular. However, due to his extensive technical, scientific and legal interests, Adrian is also active in almost all areas of intellectual property law.

Since 2010, Adrian is also a partner at the consulting firm Köster & Partner GbR, based in Heilbronn. There, he advises companies on their technological development, supports them in increasing and implementing a sense of purpose as well as social responsibility, and helps individuals to identify and pursue their personal path.

Adrian is a partner at Wörz Patentanwälte in Stuttgart since January 1st, 2023.

A few years ago, Adrian also wrote his first crime novel – Veritates: Precise Murders – and is working on a follow-up volume whenever he finds the time and muse to do so.
